This pairing of Montana agate and labradorite is inspired by the Tagalog goddess Lakapati (also known as Ikapati depending on region in the Philippines). They are the goddess of agriculture and fertility, and in many stories they are described as being intersex (having both sexual organs). I see their representation as someone who is intersex as symbolizing balance and wholeness.

The agate has these graceful ribbons of cream and brown - it looks like both a landscape and layers of sediment. I am drawn to the image of sediment because it represents both history and change over time. One layer represents time when my ancestors (who were rice farmers) lived, and another layer represents my time. The labradorite has fleeting flashes of blue and orange, which with the agate is the future or dreams/hopes. Together they are balanced and whole.

The stones sit together on textured and oxidized sterling silver with a sterling silver ball accent. The band is a double half round band with beading details.
