This pendant is a reminder of how small we are. Sometimes that sentiment seems almost obscene or rude. Thinking about it more, however, I think it helps me. I grew up so focused on what others thought of me that I developed a voice (not unlike the voices in so many others' heads) that reminded me regularly to mind the space I took up. This voice persists, but louder is the reminder that the universe is vast and everyone is constantly in their own heads that they often don't have time to think about me. That is freeing.
Sometimes the dendrites captured in stone look like trees, ferns, or roots. In this specimen a stormy universe is captured. The faceted opal sits above a little nugget of turquoise with pyrite. Together they look like a wide sky above the earth. They are accented by two sterling silver balls.
The pendant floats on its oxidized 21" sterling silver paperclip chain. The chain is held in place by two parallel silver loops on the back (pictured in the fourth photo) and has a circle clasp.
